Take photos under water with Xperia ZR

Today, Sony has officially announced the Xperia ZR and has teased a video of the smartphone on its YouTube channel.

Design wise it looks very similar to the Xperia Z, but specs wise, it is a step below the Xperia Z as it has a smaller 4.6-inch display that also has a lower 720p resolution. Sony maintains the Bravia Engine technology for the device and it uses the same quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro CPU clocked at 1.5GHz and 1GB of RAM. Sony makes a big deal of its waterproof capabilities and says that it is IP55/IP58 certified like the Xperia Z

Below are the features that Sony boasts about Xperia ZR

  • Waterproof
  • Dust-resistant
  • Optimised imagery with HDR for photos and video
  • Stunning shots in any light — 13 MP camera with Exmor RS™ for mobile
  • Lightning speed performance – Quad-core processor
  • True Screen intelligence – Mobile BRAVIA® Engine 2
  • One-touch connectivity from Sony
  • Outstanding graphics
