MTNL to be the India's first 3G operator-to launch services tomorrow



State-owned MTNL will become the first Indian service provider to commercially launch 3G services when it unveils the services tomorrow(DEC 11th)in the India Telecom 2008 event. The services will be launched in the presence of the Prime Minister of India, Dr Manmohan Singh.

Initially MTNL will offer the services for free for first two months to its premium users. It says that the move is basically to give the subscribers a feel and experience of the 3G services.

The company will launch the service in Delhi first. While the city falling under the municipal limits has been covered. But the company says that the whole region will be covered within a month. Mumbai launch will take place in around two months time.Motorola is providing the core 3G network deployment for MTNL. BSNL and other state-owned has recieved 3G spectrum.
